Syfy’s television adaptation of the James S.A. Corey The Expanse series has been in the works for a long time–pretty much ever since the network first announced they were going to be making some changes to their programming choices (and that they were keeping the revised spelling of their name).

While the first episode isn’t technically scheduled to premiere until December 14th, Syfy decided to release the pilot on multiple platforms to get people hyped for what’s to come. The full episode can be viewed on YouTube as of right now, you can check it out below!

There’s a lot to get excited about already, but for me it’s mostly about the names attached to this project–including The Walking Dead‘s Chad Coleman and goddess-among-us-mere mortals Shohreh Aghdashloo. If you’re not familiar with the series on which the show is based, this synopsis below should intrigue you:

Two hundred years in the future, in a fully colonized Solar System, police detective Miller, born in the asteroid belt, is given the assignment to find a missing young woman, Julie Mao. Joining his task is James Holden, formerly first officer of an ice freighter who is involved in an incident caused by the tense relationship between Earth, Mars and the Belt. Soon the two find out that the missing woman is connected to a vast conspiracy.

Have you checked out the pilot yet? For those of you who have read the series, how do you think the adaptation looks so far?
