Development for the Syfy (ugh, that name) adaptation of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians continues to chug along as apparently they’ve replaced the actress who is supposed to play Alice, the female lead opposite whiny jerkbag Quentin. For those of you not familiar with the book series, it centers around a young adult who finds out he’s been accepted to an academy for magically-gifted students. Yeah, the premise is like Harry Potter, but the content definitely is not.

Originally, Sosie Bacon was supposed to play Alice, a quiet but extremely gifted student who’s also Quentin’s love interest. She’s reportedly been replaced by Olivia Tyler Dudley, who has a history in a few horror movies including The Vatican TapesChernobyl Diaries, and Dude Bro Party Massacre III. Yeah. I want to see that last one, too. No, seriously.

Syfy’s TV series adaptations are always flourish or fizzle, but hopes are high for this one. R… right, guys?
