In news that somehow surprises no one with how fitting it may be, MTV has tapped Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart (who are co-starring in the upcoming film Central Intelligence out this summer) to host their 2016 Movie Awards–and from the sounds of things, this isn’t going to be your average awards ceremony:
I'm hosting the @MTV MOVIE AWARDS & YOU'RE WRITING THE PROMOS. RT or reply w/ what U want us to say! Let's roll ???https://t.co/3q0MvyXaOj
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) February 19, 2016
In a report from MTV (and per the above tweet from Johnson), the co-hosts will be involved in a livestream of their promo shoot today, February 20 starting at 2 PM EST, during which they’ll take dialogue and scenario suggestions from fans based on comments and tweets–and it will all be cut and edited into the final promos that wind up airing on TV and online.
That’s not where the craziness ends, though. It would also appear that this year’s MTV Movie Awards are going to take a page out of Grease: Live‘s book by filming on multiple soundstages a day before the show airs on April 9. Hmmm. I confess to being at least a little intrigued.
I don’t know. Central Intelligence looks amusing enough, but I’m still wondering why they didn’t title it Between a Rock and a Hart Place.
