Followers of the Path, rejoice! We have a new Witcher game on the horizon. CD Projekt Red tweeted the news Tuesday morning—along with a blog post going further in-depth about this new entry.
With the hopes of “kicking off a new saga for the franchise,” CDPR has partnered with Epic Games and stepped away from their own engine, REDEngine, to use Unreal 5. The goal here is to make the open-world experience even better, and considering that this is going to be a “new” saga (i.e. presumably sans-Geralt), one can only imagine what that will entail.
We don’t have any confirmed further details yet—hopefully, more is soon to come—but my imagination is swirling at the news. Perhaps we’ll finally be able to create our very own Witcher? Or we’ll be introduced to an entirely new cast of characters to love/hate? The medallion above, in the teaser photo, most closely resembles that of the School of the Cat. It could be a hint, but it’s hard to parse exactly what that might mean.
Even with little to go on, we should celebrate. We’re getting a new Witcher! What do you hope to see in this next game? A Geralt appearance? Ciri? Our very own customizable Roach? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to toss a coin to your Witcher:
