During Hillary Clinton’s speech last night, NBC’s Joe Scarborough tweeted at her to “smile. You just had a big night.” Scarborough has given similar directives to male candidates in the past, but there are specific gendered connotations to telling women to smile (the idea that our physical bodies exist solely to appeal to men’s tastes, for example) that he didn’t take into account here. Thankfully, Samantha Bee and some Full Frontal fans were on hand to give him a lesson:
