Things We Saw Today: John Oliver Really, Really Hates Birds

The web exclusive for this week’s Last Week Tonight revealed that the show has the highest budget at HBO and proceeded justify that by spending approximately three minutes addressing the upcoming seasonal bird migration. Oliver hopes they’ll never come back, and proceed to tear into ostriches, geese, and other types of bird. Penguins are cool though, of course.

  • SNL just added three new cast members. Head over to The Daily Dot to check out some of Melissa Villaseñor’s work and her uncanny impression of Owen Wilson.
  • Do you ever wonder what George Takei think of dance parties, the Hindenburg Disaster, and Bill Nye? The Late Show uploaded a video titled “George Takei Reacts to Things” where George Takei reacts to all those things and more.
  • Every Frame a Painting” analyzed the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s lack of a distinctive musical identity, and it’s an eye-opening (ear-opening?) watch on movie scores and soundtracks. (via Laughing Squid)
  • Ben Barnes from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has joined Marvel’s The Punisher as a series regular. (via ComingSoon.net)
  • Dying on TV analyzed some of our favorite TV shows and made a series of cool infographics telling us how you’re most likely to die on each one! Sounds like a fun party game.

Finally, Buzzfeed presented the Stranger Things kids (minus Finn Wolfhard) with some “retro” toys. Millie Bobby Brown’s reaction to Pop Rocks is the best thing you’ll see today.
