Artist Annabelle H (username @sparklyfawn) started up the hashtag #DrawingWhileBlack to celebrate and appreciate black artists, including illustrators, painters, and graphic designers. The results have been spectacular, and I’ve been ooh-ing and aah-ing at my Twitter feed all day.

Below are just a few of the creators who posted in the tag so far, and the campaign will be going all weekend, so I encourage you to follow the tag and bring some beautiful art or new webcomics into your life – or, if you’ve got hiring power in a creative industry, hire some of these amazing artists.

  • Venture Brothers is coming back to Adult Swim…in approximately 422 days? So that sounds like some time in 2018? They continue to toy with us. (via Nerdist)
  • Darren Aranofsky’s Mother! reportedly received a hard-to-earn “F” from CinemaScore, the polling service which surveys opening-day audiences in randomly selected cities. (via The AV Club)
  • Well-loved character actor Harry Dean Stanton passed away at the age of 91 yesterday. io9’s Julie Muncy paid a really lovely tribute to the way that he injected life and personality into the portrayal of “average Joe” characters over his 50+-year career. Rest in peace, Harry.
  • Why hello there, Channing Tatum and your matching belt buckle and flask. 20th Century Fox released a clip of Tatum’s character confronting the Kingsmen from Kingsman: The Golden Circle (via io9)
