Irish citizens from around the world are returning home in order to vote in Friday’s upcoming election. The Friday vote will be on whether to repeal the Eighth Amendment Irish constitution, which makes abortion illegal under almost all circumstances. As evidenced in the picture above, when I visited Ireland last month it was clear that the issue is very split and the anti-choice side has been pumping out propaganda in order to keep the abortion laws in place. It’s a really powerful reminder of how times are evolving and what people can change when they come together.
I’m coming #HomeToVote ! Will be traveling 5,169 miles from LA to Dublin and will be thinking of every Irish woman who has had to travel to access healthcare that should be available in their own country. Let’s do this, Ireland! #repealthe8th #VoteYes pic.twitter.com/fZDxUIGrs9
