Mark Millar loves Tessa Thompson as much as we do! The comic writer recently spoke about a new monthly series for the series Kick-Ass debuting February 14th, where Dave Lizewski passes on the title to a new hero Patience Lee, “a black woman who served in the military and is the mother of young children.” While there’s currently no new Kick-Ass film in the works, Millar already has an idea of who would take over the film role from Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

He tweeted:

The writer spoke to EW about Patience Lee, and his description of her character sounds perfect for Thompson. “I hadn’t even realized it until I’d written it, as these things are very subconscious, but the nerdy Dave just feels wrong for now, and the very effective, meticulous Patience just feels right”, said Millar. “It would be boring seeing a teenage superhero just screwing up again. Seeing someone who’s really good at this and wearing that costume is actually really exciting and gives the comic a really different flavor, especially where we go with it.”

Millar continued to share and re-tweet posts advocating for Thompson as Patience Lee and praising the actress for her talent.

While a film might not be in the cards, Millar also noted another possibility—a Kick-Ass television series. “[Kick-Ass director] Matthew Vaughn went nuts for this when I sent him the first few issues a few weeks back, though he said it feels more like a great TV show than a movie series, and I think he’s right. You couldn’t do this in TV when we did the first Kick-Ass, but you absolutely could now, of course.”
