Good morning. Welcome to the opening of one episode of Superboy, which ran from 1988 to 1992. Ah, the 80s and early 90s, when it was still considered reasonable and not hilarious to cast obvious adults in the roles of leather and chain-clad school bullies who terrorized actual children. In this episode a young Joaquin Phoenix (then still Leaf Phoenix) guest starred as a kid who, apparently, takes control of a nuclear submarine to impress a pretty girl.

And also vividly hallucinates about the reign of terror on which he would embark had he the powers of Superboy. Just like Lex Luthor.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
