Last Friday, TMS Social Media Editor Sam Riedel and I got the chance to check out Time Square Discovery’s Star Wars & Costumes Exhibition, which features props and costumes from Phantom Menace all the way through to Force Awakens.
I knew the exhibit would be interesting from a costume nerd standpoint, but I wasn’t prepared for how emotional it would be to see some of the galaxy’s most iconic outfits and props in person, or how much revisiting the looks of the original trilogy would change what I’m expecting from The Force Awakens. Every item had a weight and a historical significance that I’d never fully appreciated during movie viewings, and it was really humbling to think of all the research and craftmanship that went into outfitting some of those characters (if there’s one thing to appreciate about the prequels, it’s their commitment to clothes).
If you’re NY-based and looking for a Star Wars fix to get you through the final Force Awakens approach, I really recommend checking Discovery’s exhibit out. If you’re not, feel free to nerd out vicariously via Sam and me!
