For Star Wars fans, Jawas being unhooded and showing their actual appearance has been the subject of speculation for quite some time. With everything else in the Star Wars universe, there’s usually a place to find every answer to your questions if you look hard enough, and the appearance of Jawas under their hoods has long held an answer that may be surprising. These hooded droid scavengers, believe it or not, are actually speculated to be furry underneath their hoods.
According to the fifth episode in the TV series The Book of Boba Fett, Jawas are furry humanoids underneath their hoods. This is confirmed by the character Peli Motto in-universe, who works closely with Jawa associates, during the series, to scavenge for droid parts and later rebuild a ship that the Mandalorian would use for his exploits. She reveals this information, though, in a pretty unexpected way—during a conversation with the Mandalorian, she expresses that she dated a Jawa once. Of the experience, Motto recalls that they’re “furry” and “have issues”. Though we still don’t have full confirmation on what exactly Jawas really look like, there are still plenty of fan depictions now that can get us closer to the real answer.
This hint brings us closer to the unsolved mystery of Jawas’ unhooded appearance. For the time being, we still don’t have an in-universe look at what Jawas look like without the hood—yet. The claw-hands that the Jawas have in the show might also be an indication, though for right now, we still remain in the dark about what Jawas look like—and perhaps they’d prefer to remain in the dark, as well.
