‘Ted Lasso’s Brit castmates are returning, making a season 4 return nearly definite

There’ve been rumors about a possible fourth season of Ted Lasso since season three ended, despite how final that season felt. We even caught cast member Nick Mohammed (who plays Nate Shelley) in a possible spoiler! Now, we have concrete information signaling a return to the AFC Richmond locker room.

Variety reports that three of Ted Lasso‘s British cast members—Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift—have had their deals picked up by Warner Bros. Television. This means that we know Rebecca, Roy, and Leslie are returning for something Ted Lasso-related. Whether it’s a full-on fourth season, a special, or anything in between hasn’t officially been announced, but we can expect more time with our favorite soccer club.

The reason we’re hearing about these actors in particular is because the British cast are all members of a different actors’ union. As Variety reported, “U.K. Equity members […] have different deals than the U.S. SAG-AFTRA cast. Those negotiations will happen next.”

So, what about Ted Lasso himself? While there’s been no official word from WBTV about Jason Sudeikis’ involvement, it’s rumored that he’ll be involved in the show in an Executive Producer capacity. This makes a lot of sense. When Ted Lasso‘s third season ended, Ted made the firm decision to go home to his son, and that decision felt like the right one for him. However, with Roy now the manager of AFC Richmond and Rebecca still part-owner along with the fans, there’s absolutely more story to tell about the team.

Earlier this year, WBTV CEO Channing Dungey talked about the possibilities for more Lasso:

“I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be. I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for ‘Ted Lasso.’ Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”

Will it be a new show called Roy Kent or The Richmond Way? While there’s been no word about Juno Temple returning as Keeley (yet!), will Rebecca and Keeley start that women’s football league Keeley suggested at the close of season three? Only time will tell.

We just have to believe.
