More Batman Vs. Superman news! No, we don’t have a real title yet, but we do have a Wonder Woman — Gal Gadot, a relative newcomer who spent two years in the Israeli army and was seriously awesome in the last two Fast and Furious movies. But more to the point: they’re putting Wonder Woman in the movie?! Holy COW.

Of course, because this is the Internet, people are already judging the poor girl for not being exactly everybody’s interpretation of Wonder Woman, while others are (not unfairly) worrying about whether or not director Zack Snyder will be able to fit in a third iconic character into what’s already a pretty jam-packed movie. It’s believed that she’ll probably only get some kind of a cameo, but you never know. After all, DC and Warner Brothers do seem pretty intent on making this Justice League thing a reality, and she’s a pretty integral part of the team.

In a statement to Variety, who first broke the news this afternoon, Snyder said, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Could it be a total disaster? Of course. This is Man of Steel 2 we’re talking about, here. The whole thing sounds like a disaster most of the time. But we’re still holding out hope that this will mean good things for Wonder Woman, because we all love her a bunch and would really like to believe that this is a first step to her getting her own movie. Not that it wouldn’t be great if the studio didn’t think she needed “steps” and would just give her a movie all to herself, but as we all know, DC hasn’t being doing Wonder Woman a whole lot of favors to begin with. So this is something, at least, and that’s better than the 60+ years of nothing we’ve gotten so far.

Time will tell if they come up with any new title ideas that hint more closely at Wonder Woman’s inclusion into the story. Man of Steel: Knight Falls and also so does Themyscira? Batman vs. Superman plus Wonder Woman equals Justice League? Hopefully they’ll come up with better ideas than we are, but we kind of doubt it.
