Okay, so Amazon isn’t dead. But the CW just announced the eight new pilots it’ll be producing this season, and according to Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, the putative Wonder Woman show is not among them.

I have learned that the network has decided to roll the Wonder Woman origin project to next season. Additionally, I hear the CW may order an off-cycle pilot.

Deadline notes that Amazon had already started casting it’s Diana, putting it ahead of the curve of some of the other shows its (young) age. On the other hand, the script for the pilot was still in the process of being written but a month ago, and it’s reasonable for the CW to want to give the show more time. Even wanted, after David E. Kelley‘s camp blamed the rushed nature of their production for at least some of its problems. After the success of Arrow on NBC this year, however, the CW is even more interested in replacing the DC-Comics-shaped hole in its lineup of dramas, according to Deadline’s sources.

Hopefully that means that Amazon won’t fade away. We certainly won’t stop rooting for it.
