Samantha Bee Is Back Just in Time to Tear Apart Trump’s Completely WTF Week

Full Frontal has been on hiatus for the last few weeks, so with last night’s return episode, Samantha Bee had a lot to tackle. In a week with so much WTF packed into it, it’s jarring to be reminded that Trump’s joint address speech was only nine days ago. It’s like he makes time itself move slower through sheer awfulness.

But as we now know, Trump can only swallow his lunacy and read off a teleprompter for a little over an hour without it bubbling back up in strange forms. So his ensuing tweet storm about the “coup” Barack Obama attempted with his alleged wire “tapp” of Mar-a-Lago was almost impressively baffling. Cue Bee’s perfect sarcasm:

Just one of those classic coups where the president uses the might of the government to spy on an opponent, then doesn’t release any of the information he found, lets the other guy win and then isn’t president anymore. Classic coup. Exactly what the word means!

She also called out Trump’s staff for constantly coddling and kowtowing to his troubling behavior, as well as the press for falling all over themselves praising his speech. He set a personal record for not spewing his usual rambling, hateful bile and suddenly he’s the leader we’ve always dreamed of.

The pundits are so eager to declare Donald Trump “presidential,” and in one way, he is. Namely, when he spouts nonsense, it has immediate global consequences and makes us less safe–because he’s the fucking President.

And if there’s no one on his staff brave enough to tell their boss there’s only one ‘p’ in ‘tap,’ there certainly isn’t anyone brave enough to tell him Obama isn’t running a coup.

Welcome back, Samantha Bee. We need you.

As a bonus, since yesterday was the Day Without a Woman, Bee shows us what that looks like on her show. It’s pretty disastrous, since, wouldn’t you know, this show employs a ton of women.
