While attempts to get a Zombieland TV show off the ground were effectively double-tapped, it would appear that failure hasn’t deterred Sony in its quest to give us more zombie stuff. At its CinemaCon presentation, the studio revealed logos for a number of upcoming projects, including Blade Runner, Spider-Man: Homecoming and the now-confirmed follow-up to the 2009 Zombieland:
The original film was something of a cult favorite, and if you look at its cast now–pre-Luthor Jesse Eisenberg, pre-True Detective Woody Harrelson, pre-any race Emma Stone and pre-pop singing Abigail Breslin–well, it’s no wonder casting information hasn’t been released yet. Given the relative failure of the TV series, Sony could be in the midst of some serious negotiations right now if they’re trying to bring back the original foursome. I’d love to see them come back for a sequel, though.
Granted, zombies have been experiencing a resurgence of popularity lately–so maybe now is the right time to resurrect the Zombieland franchise and make a sequel?
Is there anyone you’d like to see return for Zombieland 2–or any new faces that should join up?
